Packed tight with bone crushing guitar riffs, cosmic drumming complete with adrenaline-racing double bass, and the prophetic voice of Warrel Dane, this album is downright colossal. In fact, "This Godless Endeavor", along with Nile's "Annihilation of the Wicked", is one of my favorite releases from the year 2005. And to this day, it hasn't lost any its appeal.

There isn't a single song here that doesn't blow my mind. My personal favorites are: "My Acid Words", "A Future Uncertain", and the epic title track "This Godless Endeavor"; however, each and every song in between those mentioned above is a masterpiece in its own right.

Metal Masterpiece!

This is NILE.

As they say in many sports: Do what works until it doesn't work anymore. That's the underlying principle to this album. Nile has certainly proved themselves as "a towering metal monolith; an icon which will inspire new growth and which casts a shadow on nearly all competition" prior to this album, and therefore, my opinion that they haven't brought anything new to the mix with "Those Whom the Gods Detest" should not be interpreted as a bad thing. Nile works the same Egyptian magic that they always have, making for yet another incredible album in a magnificent discography.

This album is exactly what you would expect from any Nile album, and if you are new to Nile, any of their last three albums (this one included) make for great starting points. As for "Those Whom the Gods Detest", this is Nile doing what works, and damn well at that.

A soundtrack for the violence of politics.

Chris Caffery is a very accomplished guitarist and singer. For many years, he played in the legendary band Savatage and even had the honor of playing along side the great Criss Oliva (R.I.P.); he has also been a regular member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra among other appearances.

After going solo, his music became much more politically driven, this album being a prime example of that. The politics here tend to be more liberal than conservative, although sometimes it's impossible to tell where he falls on the spectrum, but the great thing about this album is that you can easily ignore the message of his lyrics and still get a kick in the ass from the brutality of the songs.

Something that takes a little getting used to is Chris's bizarre style of singing. It may not happen for some people, which is unfortunate. The highlights of the album for me are: "Home Is Where the Hell Is", "Erase" (which employs one of the heaviest guitar riffs I've ever heard), "Edge of Darkness", "Iraq Attack" (featuring the familiar vocals of Jon Oliva), and "Beat Me, You'll Never Beat Me."

This album is at least worth a listen. Some people will love it, others won't, especially those who have no tolerance for politics in music.

This is Glam Metal in its purest form. Classic Ratt n' roll!

This album is hard rockin', plain and simple. Featuring the unique vocals of Stephen Pearcy and the twin guitar attack of Warren DeMartini and Robbin Crosby (R.I.P.), this band has no shortage of raw talent, and they make the best of it here. "Invasion of Your Privacy" is in fact my favorite Ratt release. The songs on this album are textbook Glam Metal, making every use of catchy hooks and dramatic guitar riffs and solos.

My favorite songs on the album are "Never Use Love", "Lay It Down", "Give It All", "What You Give is What You Get", and "Dangerous but Worth the Risk." However, all the songs here are great.

Any fan of the Glam Metal sub-genre should own this album.

Further proof that Don Dokken can make a great album without the presence of George Lynch.

This album, the first of Don's solo career, has the classic Dokken sound that fans of the original band crave so badly. Don's voice is just as beautiful, emotional, and powerful as always and the lyrics are in a very familiar vein. Current Dokken lead guitarist John Norum lights it up on the album, along side co-lead guitarist Billy White. Their guitar solos can very easily be mistaken for Lynch solos, and that is a great thing.

All the songs here are good, especially if you love such Dokken albums as "Under Lock and Key" and "Back for the Attack."
