Vinterland's sole album is a masterclass in dramatic, atmospheric melodic black metal, with a skilled balance struck between refined production values, evocative melodic sections and chaotic black metal fury. Showing a broader and deeper emotional range than your typical black metal album, whilst at the same time retaining more credibility than many of the bands who jumped on the melodic black metal bandwagon, the album both gives Vinterland's competitors in the melodic black metal scene like Emperor, Dimmi Borgir and Cradle of Filth a run for their money and sets a strong benchmark for future bands playing in this particular extreme metal style.
