Wearing the influence of Candlemass on their sleeve - heck, even their name could be inspired by the classic Candlemass track - Solitude Aeturnus' brand of depressive doom metal gets a first airing on this debut album. On the whole, they don't quite manage to hit the standards of their influences, with a few too many songs which just don't seem to go anywhere, but they do a good enough job to make this an enjoyable listen for most doom metal fans and the album sets the stage for greater things to come. Those with a distaste for slow metal or who can't stand mopey lyrics probably won't find much to enjoy here.
