The second Saint Vitus album is a reasonably competent followup to the band's debut album, and is once again rooted in worship of their 1970s idols such as Black Sabbath or Pentagram. In all honesty, this time around the band feel a bit too dependent on their influences - aside from Scott Reagers' gruff vocals, there's little to distinguish them from any other Sabbath-worshipping doom metal grouping, their songwriting merely being better than average this time around rather than excellent. Still, Reagers' performance is enough to justify this album to me as a worthwhile entry into the annals of early doom metal.
