Hmmm Hmmm Hmmm,

It's the most important death metal band ever, arguably. Let me give you my personal take on this:

1) I didn't like their old stuff; 2) I DO like this album; 3) I am not a huge death metal fan;

So if you fit these qualifications, give Gateways a shot. The production is killer. The tempos are slow but the instrumental licks are fast, brutal, and technical. I'm especially impressed with Sandoval's drumwork; now I see why he is so respected in the metal community. It seems like Morbid Angel has only improved with age. Like fine fine fine fine fine wine.
