I'm not usually fond of the sort of death metal-derived grunt-focused approach to goth metal pioneered by the likes of Paradise Lost or My Dying Bride, but I can make an exception for Tiamat's Clouds. It took a little while to grow on me compared to Tiamat's more accessible gothic rock releases from later in their career - or, indeed, the absolutely superb Wildhoney - but grow on me it did, and I'm glad I gave it the chance to do so. Johan Edlund's vocals feel a little thin and forced here, but aside from that the band turn in a solid performance and I can recommend this to most gothic metal fans, especially those who dig Paradise Lost.
