"Sinner" is basically a fast-paced straight heavy metal track in the vein of what Priest would become known for, but its bridge is somewhat progressive, involving a change of meter followed by an atmospheric guitar-solo section. "Diamonds and Rust" is the weakest track of the album, I think... I don't know if it's because it's a cover track, or if it's because it reminds me of Abba style disco music. Well, nevermind that song, because it's followed by the so-metal-it-hurts(-so-good) "Starbreaker" and then the ballady "Last Rose of Summer", which is one of those well-crafted ballads that I like. "Let Us Prey/Call for the Priest" opens out with a nice Queen-esque guitar harmony section and then explodes into an upbeat heavy metal section, which is the song proper, I guess (although the intro theme is reprised later on in the song). "Raw Deal" is another straight, but also groovy, metal track, while "Here Come the Tears" is a darker ballady track. The absolute highlight is the closer "Dissident Aggressor" which contains everything a metal song should: insane vocals, raging guitar solos, pounding 3/4 drums and aggressive riffage.

"Sin After Sin" is a great metal album, and it is recommended to anyone who likes good old traditional heavy metal.
