"Leaders Not Followers, Part 2" is the 11th full-length studio album by UK death metal/grindcore act Napalm Death. The album was released through Century Media Records in August 2004. It´s a covers album featuring covers of various hardcore, punk, thrash, and death metal artists like Sepultura, Hirax, Dayglo Abortions, Anti Cimex, and Discharge. As the title suggests it´s the second installment of the "Leaders Not Followers" release series which began with the "Leaders Not Followers" covers EP from October 1999. Although guitarist Jesse Pintado is credited for playing on the album, all guitars were actually performed by Mitch Harris.

The track selection on the 19 track, 43:09 minutes long album isn´t that surprising if you´re familiar with Napalm Death´s own death metal/grindcore style. There are quite a few hardcore punk covers, a few thrash metal covers, and also a few death metal oriented tracks, so the band haven´t exactly left their comfort zone on this release. But then again...who would want to hear Napalm Death cover Lady Gaga? (come to think of it, that would actually be pretty cool :-)). What they do, they do really well though, and as always Napalm Death deliver a both technically skillfull and passionate performance. Even when they venture into thrash metal territory with covers of "Riot of Violence" by Kreator and "Devastation" by Devastation they make a strong impression.

"Leaders Not Followers, Part 2" is well produced too, featuring a raw and powerful sounding production, so upon conclusion this is a good quality covers album. Just a couple of more surprising track selections could probably have elevated the release to a higher level, but it´s still entertaining as it is and a 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
