"Forged in Fury" is the 9th full-length studio album by Brazilian death metal act Krisiun. The album was released through Century Media Records in August 2015. It´s the successor to "The Great Execution" from 2011. Krisiun was formed in 1990 and is a family band consisting of the three brothers Alex Camargo (Bass, Vocals), Max Kolesne (Drums), Moyses Kolesne (Guitars). Despite their different surnames they are actual brothers.

Stylistically the music on "Forged in Fury" continues the old school death metal attack of "The Great Execution (2011)". Brutal and commanding yet fully intelligible growling vocals, fast- and mid-paced brutal grooves, and more than one nod towards the most raw part of the 80s thrash movement. The Erik Rutan sound production brings the music into present day though, so while the material is delightfully old school it doesn´t sound derivative and generally features enough contemporary elements never to stagnate.

On the other hand the music is not terribly original sounding either, but it´s well written and catchy, and Krisiun delivers the music with the right amount of skill, fierce aggression, and brutality. They spice it up with some fairly melodic lead work, which works great for the variation of the album. Highlights include album opener "Scars of the Hatred", "Ways of Barbarism", and "Soulless Impaler", but the material on the 12 track, 59:58 minutes long album, is both consistent in quality and style.

Upon conclusion "Forged in Fury" is another strong album release by Krisiun. It features very few surprises and if you enjoyed "The Great Execution (2011)", you´re almost guaranteed listening pleasure from this one. Krisiun is one of those bands who doesn´t promise more than they can deliver (which is good quality death metal craftmanship), and if you set your expectations to what you´re gonna hear "Forged in Fury" is an album that can blow you away with it´s organic delivery and catchy old school material. A 4 star (80%) rating is deserved.
