What an odd single this is! The album it comes from, In The Court Of The Crimson King, is rightly considered one of the milestones in the 60-plus year history of rock music. However, this "Epitaph/21st Century Schizoid Man" single was released 7 years after the album. Why would the record company do that?

This is great music and I love both songs; only "21st Century Schizoid Man", which is half of this single, could be considered metal-related. It's still a great song, way ahead of its time. King Crimson should definitely be considered proto-metal, so only the issue of whether this single really belongs on a metal website tempers my final star rating. After much deliberation, I decided on 3 1/2 stars.
