Yeah, I have No Exit and it is much, much better, I'll get around to reviewing it within the year hopefully :s

There definitely are some good qualities to 'Disconnected', but compared to some of the albums you mentioned, and to the Arch-fronted ones, it is below standard. The Arch/Matheos album, however, indicates that things are going to be finger lickin' good gain.

I actually kinda like the "coldness" of "Disconnected", but I agree that it´s not among the best Fates Warning has to offer.

Yeah, this is definitely FW's weakest album (along with "FWX", which I think is even weaker, and perhaps their "Night on Bröcken" debut). I am sure that you will find any other FW album much more interesting.

"Disconnected" isn´t necessarily the best place to start with Fates Warning. I´d say give "Perfect Symmetry" a try and if you digest more pop oriented material "Parallels" and "Inside Out".
