The only Abigor album I've ever heard, Channeling the Quintessence of Satan is a standard piece of the more traditional branch of "trooooo" black metal. Typical buzzing black metal guitars create a predictably gloomy mood and those snarling, distorted vocals (rather than the high-pitched ghoulish shriek favored by some black metal bands) remind you that, uh, Satan's coming to get you. Enough traces of melody occasionally surface from the maelstrom of blastbeats and tremolo riffs to let you know that this could be a band with potential to stand out from the umpteen bands who advocate this sort of back to basics "Cradle of Borgir are such posers for all those damn keyboards" type of music, but overall this album leaves little lasting memory.
