Kingcrimsonprog Within seconds of album opener `Proven,' bursting out of the speakers at speed, you will have already fallen in love with this album. Perseverance is certainly a classic record and Hatebreed themselves exemplify everything that is right with both Hardcore and Metal, their sound is excellent and they know how to write great songs.

Some listeners may be put off by Jamie Jasta's lyrics or his reliance on sing along moments, but the vast majority of listeners will find the man captivating. Sometimes it is possible to write about vengeance or violence without sounding childish and Jasta has a knack for it.

On 2002's Perseverance; their major label, debut the band were still relatively fresh and were able to write a set of short, straightforward and similarly structured songs without having to worry about diversifying their sound or distinguishing one album from another, as such this is possibly their purest, most streamlined and focused album, no song feels out of place and the pace never lets up.

Title track and single `Perseverance,' is still about the greatest Hatebreed song out there and tracks like `A Call For Blood,' and `Hollow Ground,' still appear in the Hatebreed live show to this day, Perseverance is no throw away album.

The album has a really great guitar tone, very deep, very heavy but with a lot of definition, there is no trade off, this album retains all the heaviness but is never muddy or unclear. In fact; as a whole the entire production job on Perseverance is excellent, almost ahead of its time in many respects. The album doesn't seem to have aged at all.

If you want a straight forward, brutal listening experience you can't go wrong with Perseverance.

Kingcrimsonprog Hatebreed are effective if nothing else, they really get the task done and done well. It is a mistake to dismiss the band for their simple riffs because what the riffs are is not simple but rather effective. Hatebreed deliver the maximum possible effect in the most direct and vital fashion. Jamie Jasta's refreshingly positive lyrical approach may seem cheesy to the jaded and cynical but the man certainly knows how to write memorable sing along moments designed specifically to make you feel good about yourself which I for one find commendable.

Each Hatebreed album is a different approach to the same very effective formula, with different albums concentrating more on one aspect of the band's sound than another but still very much retaining that Hatebreed sound. Rise of Brutality sits in the position of perhaps being the most strict with the formula, there are no punkier numbers, no thrashier numbers and no instrumentals, every song is a perfectly constructed Hatebreed anthem with hard edge, a sing along chorus and a big breakdown. This may not be the album to consider if you are tired of every song sounding exactly the same, but if enjoy what Hatebreed do best then this album contains the most songs directly in that exact style.

The production isn't the clearest of all, but is by no means poor. The album as a whole sounds very dense and low end which is a good style for a band like Hatebreed although not one which you will find on the rest of their albums which favour a clearer and crisper production style.

If you are new to Hatebreed and are wondering which of their albums is right for you, the key points in favour of Rise of Brutality are the singles 'This is Now,' and 'Live For This,'along with fan favourite songs 'Doomsayer,' and 'Beholder of Justice.'

To summarise this is a very good album and perhaps the most definitive example of Hatebreed's musical style, it is highly recommended to existing fans of the band is is a pretty good album to make your first Hatebreed record.

Kingcrimsonprog As a fan, you come to expect a certain level of quality from Hatebreed and Supremacy does not disappoint in the slightest. From start to finish Supremacy is a vital and energetic album capturing the sharper and harder aspects of the bands sound.

The album as a whole is very strong and never suffers from any dip in quality, there are no weak tracks and the album overall is just the right length to feel complete without dragging on.

Compared to the previous two albums Supremacy seems to be exploring the band's heavier influences more, with a stronger focus on that part of the band's sound than other aspects, for example their are fewer sections that could be described as punk influenced and the songs are less straightforward in composition and use notes and patterns in places more traditionally associated with much more extreme bands. The album is by no means a departure, the lion's share pf the music sounds the way you would expect but it does concentrate more one side of their sound than others in places. Songs like the furious opener 'Defeatist,' and the crowd favourite 'Destroy Everything,' a bursting with power and swagger and luckily contain the usual Jasta lyrical content about overcoming of odds, self realization and self actualization, overall very positive and empowering messages to deliver.

After the deeper and harsher production of Th Rise of Brutality the band decided to hand the production over to metal production expert Zeuss who was able to create a perfectly cutting and forceful style that perfectly suited the bands faster moments.

Standout moments include 'Spitting Venom,' which contains some unusually catchy guitar parts and 'As Diehard As They Come,' which is almost impossible not to sing along to.

Overall Supremacy is a great Hatebreed album, definitely worth checking out if you are think you might like the band and utterly essential if you already do like the band.

Kingcrimsonprog Hatebreed are a band you can rely on, much like Cannibal Corpse or AC/DC they have a style and they stick to it, so if you own one Hatebreed album already you have a very good idea what this album is going to sound like. That being said, this self titled record holds a few surprises like the odd section of clean vocals, a radio friendly single and a brooding twin guitar driven instrumental.

This album defiantly deserves to be self titled; the set of songs perfectly encapsulates the Hatebreed style both lyrically and musically, the whole energy and attitude of the album is off the hook, the performance and songwriting is really top notch. It would not be unreasonable to claim that this was one of the best albums Hatebreed have released to date.

The album opens up with the punchy and catchy `Become The Fuse,' which is pretty much the standard Hatebreed song; with gang vocals, staccato riffs and double kick patterns, interesting lyrics and Jamie Jasta's trademark shouts and growls. The whole album continues in that direction up until `Undiminished,' the very enjoyable instrumental, which features some impressive lead guitar and even a touch of piano, atypical of Hatebreed but it just proves that while the band do have a distinct style they are far from a slave to formula one trick pony.

The real success of this album lies in the excellent vocal patterns and memorable choruses, songs like `In Ashes They Shall Reap,' and `Merciless Tide,' are just ready for live performance with parts you can tell are perfect for audience participation.

Hatebreed haven't lost the ability to write the perfect breakdown either, even though they have accumulated quite a number by this stage in their career the band still manage to unleash enjoyable and memorable breakdowns that completely `make,' a song; `Everyone Bleeds Now,' ends with such a gigantic stop start section, and is consequently one of the best songs on the album.

Other highlights include the drum showcase `No Halos For The Heartless,' and the incredibly catchy `Through the Thorns.' The only song that feels out of place is the melodic potential single `Every Lasting Scar,' which takes some ques from bands like Killswitch Engage or Trivium in the radio single department although repeat listens make you realize what a catchy and enjoyable tune it is. The album is far from toned down or comercialised however; the riffs are heavy as hell, the vocals are for the most part brutal with the odd growl or tremolo stepping into death metal territory, A few guitar solos or slower sections even cross into the same territory covered on the three most recent Slayer albums (Listen to 'As Damaged As Me,' and you'll understand what I mean)

Some editions come in a big purple digipak with a DVD containing a short making of feature; nine songs live at Download 2009 and 4 songs live from Wacken 2008, an excellent bonus DVD by anyone's standards, the production values of the concerts are really high for freebies, really high quality audio, pro shot and edited. When you consider how good Hatebreed are live you know your money has been well spent.

I can't really recommend this album highly enough, this is a fantastic album of really well constructed and heavy music, if you like Hatebreed it doesn't get much better than this.

UMUR Hatebreed is the 6th full-length studio album by American hardcore/ metal act Hatebreed. That´s the 6th, if your counting the cover album For the Lions (2009). The album was released in September 2009 by E1 Music.

The recipe is about the same as on the last album by the band, which means that the style is metallic hardcore. Frontman Jamey Jasta sounds pissed as usual and the music is both fast-paced old school hardcore influenced but also filled with brick heavy breakdowns. Bully choirs/ riot gang vocals are of course one of the ingredients too. There are 14 tracks on the album which lasts for 45:55 minutes. Personally I think that´s about 10 minutes too long when the songs aren´t more varied in style than what´s the case here. The production is professional and powerful.

Hatebreed somehow doesn´t excite me quite as much as its predecessor Supremacy (2006) did, but it´s still a good release by Hatebreed and a sure buy for the fans.
