What would Lemmy do...

Genre: crossover

In the four years that passed from the release of the "The Castrator Album" to the release of "Infernal Command", Vöetsek really thrashed up their style.

The songs are still short, fast and furious, but there is much more palm-muted riffing and the playing is much more advanced with lots of leads and solos, and, well, there is more focus on musicianship on this release, which probably makes it much more appealing to metalheads than "The Castrator Album". There are plenty of kick-ass tracks like 'Bully with a Badge', 'Terror on the Dance Floor', and 'Strange Fruit', and fans of Wehrmacht's "Shark Attack" will probably enjoy this release, too.

But make no mistake, the hardcore elements are still there as is the fuck-you attitude, and thank god (or satan) that it is, because it is an integral part of the Vöetsek sound. Most of the fuck.you attitude resides in Amy Lawless' pissed off and insane vocals which sound angrier than ever. She's really something!

Recommended to fans of high speed crossover thrash!

Chaos days...

Genre: thrashcore

The title of the album and the cover artwork should be enough to scare the living crap out of any human male, and so should the music on the album.

"The Castrator Album" contains no less than forty tracks, most of which are microsongs with an average length of 30 seconds. For a crossover album, this one is more punk-oriented than metal oriented, although there are thrash metal elements in the form of palm-muted riffs and also some musical references to more traditional metal (as in the "The Hesher" and "Judas Beast: How Come Nobody Knew That Rob Halford Was Gay?").

As you might expect the songs are not only short, but also extremely fast and intense, but, while there are blastbeats, I think that most people would not classify this as a grindcore album. This is hardcore punk-based music which combines speed, aggression, anger and humor. I particularly like Amy Lawless' insane pissed off screaming vocals which just suit the overall feel of the album perfectly.

The musicianship has not been prioritized on this release, and some of the songs are a bit samey, which is especially felt when listening the album through in its entirety. But the short lengths become an asset here, as the intensity is perfectly encapsulated by 30 minutes, and, thus, a couple of songs at the time, this release is actually quite enjoyable if you are in the mood for some really pissed off thrashcore.
