You got to give it to Germany, they clone other metal bands like no other. THULCANDRA might be the most convincing proof ever with an album that sounds exactly like the two classic albums that DISSECTION released in the 90s. Exactly the same blackened death metal songwriting, with the exact same same icy reverbed sound, the same vile growls, the same melodic riffing style. Hell, even the artwork.
But I must admit I've rarely heard such a succesfull example of exact copying. Normally such albums lack the creative ideas and excitement of the originals but THULCANDRA also got that part covered. All songs are sparkling with energy, conviction and quality riffing. Actually, the album is probably better then DISSECTION's own 2006 come-back "Reinkaos".
THULCANDRA doesn't pretend to be anything else then a tribute band and they do it with utmost care and dedication. And with the cover version of "The Somberlain" they pay their respects. Good work!
