...And Oceans is a Finnish metal band that was originally active between 1995 and 2005. They released the debut album The Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts in 1998.

The group originally played symphonic/melodic black metal, but later incorporated industrial/cyber metal elements. They changed direction more fully to industrial metal on Cypher (2002).

In 2005 they changed their name to Havoc Unit and continued performing until 2013.

...And Oceans was reactivated in 2017 under the original name, releasing the comeback album Cosmic World Mother in 2020. They returned to a symphonic black metal based sound with this release.

The second album from this Finnish black metal band begins right where they left off. Not too much different from their debut album "The Dynamic Gallery Of Thoughts." They use the same kind of song structure that worked for them in the last album. There seems to be a little more emphasis on the guitars, with the keyboards lacking a little, but it doesn't effect the music at all. The keyboards are still there, but are used a little less probably considering the keyboardist got a whole CD to explore his ambient side. The songs still have the breaks with the keyboard lines that ..And Oceans fans have grown to love and the songs are still as catchy as ever. They use less of a brutal sound and more of a rock sound on this album, but the brutal parts are still there loud and clear. One compliant of mine is that they haven't really tried anything new with this album, but to continue the same style they used on the last record. It isn't a breakthough album, but it is a great album for ..And Oceans fans and for people wanting to explore the band and I'm still walking away with their songs stuck in my head. And even though the two albums re very much alike, there is something about this album that makes me prefer this one over the debut.

If you are into ambient as well, you should get the double-cd version that has the extra Ambient cd done by their keyboardist.

...And Oceans is one of those bands that catches you with a song and then never lets go with the rest. The Finnish Black Metal band has produced a debut album of songs that keep you listening repeatedly without getting bored. The songs integrate fast guitar riffs and drum lines while keyboards ease through the music. The vocals are a rough rasp, that fit very well with the brutal parts of the songs (even little evil raspy laughs that are quite humourous), but the keyboards add to this by slowly working their magic. The album would be half as good if the keyboards were taken out, which shows just how big of a part the keyboards play in this album. They add tremendous atmosphere to the music, as they fill in parts that the insturments seem to not be able to reach. They also use keyboards at insturmental breaks very effectively.

The slow keyboard line in "Samtal Med Tankar" is a great transition from the rest of the song, before the drums give a thunderous pound to join the keyboards. The intro to "Mikrobotik Fields" is a beautiful Ambient piece that puts a nice change on things before blasting into the rest of the song. Definitely some of the high points on the album. But that doesn't mean the rest of the album disappoints. Throughout the album, the same theme shines, and the guitars even seem to take the place of the keyboards in parts. It just shows that guitars and keyboards can be tweaked to make a great sounding song and album.
