Stephen
Star Star is one of those few bands that came out with a single or two and in no time, they're wiped out from the scene when the grunge wave crashing in. Nothing's particularly special about them except that their music is quite fun, nice and sleazy, and pretty obscured for hardcore glam collector. Singer Johnny Holiday's voice is bassy, crawling comfortably on the lower register, and I think he's comparable to Donnie Vie from Enuff Z'Nuff.

Some great songs here are "Fly Boy" with a splendid riff, "Science Fiction Boy" which reminded me of Hanoi Rocks a lot, the laid-back Quireboys style of "Cowboys In Space", the uptempo "Groovy Guru Gangster Girl", and the great acoustic ballad of "My Little Cuisinette". Actually nothing's really bad here unless the weird decent rendition of Alice Cooper track, "Nervous", which is my least fave. Other tracks such as "Diggy Dragster" and "Treasure or Trash" will also pleased any regular glam fans.

The production level is good but the volume level is a bit weak. You have to crank it up for maximum pleasure. Holiday's voice isn't for everybody, in fact, some probably will think it's one of the worst, but with most of the songs are enjoyable, "The Love Drag Years" deserved a 3 to 3.5 stars and a nice catch if you can find it cheap.
