Genre: alternative melancholic rock/metal

Korea are not Korean, but Swedish (who knows, maybe there's a Korean band out the called Sweden). This, their second album, offers metancholic alternative rock with plenty of metallic edge. The guitar sound is pretty heavy, and I think that "The Delirium Suite" can be likened to, in terms of musical style, Paradise Lost's "Believe in Nothing".

This is a pretty good album, actually, and I like how Korea succeed in capturing the same sort of atmosphere as Depeche Mode, Mew, Muse, and My Dying Bride, despite the fact that there's absolutely no musical or stylistic similatiries between these artists ("Enemies" does sound a bit Mew-like, though).

I don't think that all metalheads will like this, and purists are bound to cast a Satanic curse on it, because the band draw on other sources from alternative rock than just metal (and it's VERY melodic at times). The music, however, is heavy enough to be categorized as alternative metal.

Korea have composed some emotional and inspiring melodies and generated a ditto atmosphere on this album, "The Delirium Suite" does become a bit monotonous in the long run, and it's one of those albums where it's best to just listen to a couple of songs at the time.

If you like melancholic music and have a weakness for the atmosphere generated by the likes of My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost, but don't care about metal purism, then you should check this album out. Metal purists should stay far away from it.
