Out of nowhere, Kix decided to turn the wheel to a real rock and roll outfit after experimenting with some poppish new-wave feel at their prior releases. With Whiteman’s raspy vocal and some raw hard rock guitars tone, Kix brought out some AC/DC elements and combine them with Aerosmith, Hanoi Rocks, and RATT’s influences. However, despite a lot of rave reviews around, I have some mixed feelings toward “Midnite Dynamite”. I found them still in a developing process and half of the songs are just suffered from a real big hooks and careful writing, although most of them are quite enjoyable.

The title track, is an instant favorite, everything inside the track is just stunning and playing this song is gonna give you a euphoric party feel. “Red Hot” and “Lie Like A Rug” built on a rough hard rock structure but with a balance pop harmonies. “Walkin’ Away” is a mandatory ballad of the era and though this one isn’t their best, this song is somehow lovable. “Cold Shower” enjoyed some frequent airplay back in the days in their hometown, Maryland, and has some irregular interesting twist. “Sex” is another hit potential and heavily influenced by Aerosmith style.

Good disc by a great band, plenty of catchy melodies, uncomplicated but still essentially loaded. In my opinion, Kix reached their peak later on in their next two albums, but this one is also equally important to have, if you like classic hard rock or mid-80s glam metal.
