A haunting in thrash metal...

Genre: thrash metal

Eradication are often described as a deathcore/metalcore band, and their image is also kind of metalcore-ish, but I thin that this album is an all out thrash metal attack from beginning to end, which draws more on traditional thrash metal, modern technical thrash metal and melodic death metal than on metalcore or deathcore.

Most of the tracks are uptempo and are characterized by the good old polka-style thrash metal drum beat (with a couple of blast beats as well), and fast guitar riffs of which many are in the classic thrash metal style, and others more along the lines of modern melodeath. There are a lot of slower and heavier sections, too, but none of which bear any similarity with your typical deathcore breakdowns. I think that the breakdowns on this album are still very much in the thrash metal department.

Eradication makes use of two vocal styles: a growling one and a screechy screaming one (and this may well be the only metalcore/deathcore element of the album).

The music on "Dreams of Reality" is perhaps not groundbreaking or especially innovative, but I think that Eradication do a very good job of it nonetheless, and their music is varied enough not to become boring, and still they manage to stay within the boundaries of technical thrash metal (and their guitarists are obviously very skilled).

Don't let the deathcore tag or the metalcore image scare you, this is all out thrash metal, so thrash metal fans are most certain to enjoy this release, and metal purists can once again sleep at night.
