Genre: blackened speed metal

A one-track single released by Romanian avant-garde black metallers Satanochio, "The Endangered Convicted" strikes me as being more of a thrash metal affair - and a melodic one at that.

There are plenty of different riffs and sections to this song, which starts - after a build-up intro - starts out an uptempo speed metal affair with melodic and harmonic riffs, drops to a slower and more doom-ladden tempo in which the left and right guitars play different figures, thus utilizing the stereo effect quite nicely. After this section, the track moves back into speed metal mode and a very nice classic metal guitar solo is delivered. After the second verse, there is an equally classic lead guitar figure. The vocals are angry, desperate and snarling, and perhaps the most black metal-like aspect to this track.

I think that this is a very convincing and quite awesome dark speed metal track, or blackened speed metal or whatever the best label is, and I think that fans of speed and thrash metal may enjoy it. You can download it freely and legally from Asiluum's webpage.
