Well, I just listened to my first Otep album. Sevas Tra came out in 2002. I found this at a swap meet and decided to Rescue it from a bin of old used junk. I had only ever heard One song from these guys (and girl) so really didn't know What to expect. The songs on here are very loud the bands guitar driven sound is thick and meaty like your mothers meatloaf fresh out of the oven. The front woman (Otep Shamaya) reminds me of the singer from the Deftones, in a good way. Her vocals are breathy and dramatic. She raps on a few songs, and despite the fact that I don't really like Rapping in very heavy music, she pulls it off awesomely.

I didn't rate this too high because the songs for the most part sound very similar and to me the album goes on a bit Too long. I agree with MMA that this sounds like " alternative" metal. I can even hear some Korn influence here. At the same time, this is alot more angry and convincing than Korn or their clones, and they definatley Have their own style. Check this out, you just might like it.
