"Live In Chicago" is a live album release by US death metal act Autopsy. The album was released through Peaceville Records in October 2020 and it´s the first official live album by Autopsy. The material featured on the album were recorded at Reggie's Rock Club, Chicago on March 7th, 2020. The show ended up being Autopsy´s only show in 2020 out of several scheduled shows as a consequence of the corona virus pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

"Live In Chicago" features eighteen tracks and a total playing time of 66 minutes. Nine out of the eighteen tracks are culled from the band´s debut album "Severed Survival (1989)" (almost all tracks from the album are featured here except "Stillborn" and "Impending Dread") and "Twisted Mass of Burnt Decay", "In the Grip of Winter", "Fleshcrawl", and "Torn from the Womb" are featured from "Mental Funeral (1991)". So most of the tracklist is focused on the first two studio albums by the band. "Voices" represents "Acts of the Unspeakable (1992)". Two of the remaining four tracks ("Arch Cadaver" and "Burial" are from the band´s post-2008/2009 comeback albums, while "Fuck You!!!" is a cover of guitarist Danny Coralles pre-Autopsy thrash metal band Bloodbath. "Maggots In The Mirror" is an unreleased track, which makes its debut here.

I´m not surprised the band mainly focus on the early part of their discography, as that part of their musical output is considered by most to be their superior material, but I think a tracklist featuring tracks from more of their releases would have been preferable. Nine tracks from "Severed Survival (1989)" are a couple too many in my opinion, regardless of how great they are. The sound quality of the show is high, and the band are a well playing unit. Lead vocalist/drummer Chris Reifert isn´t quite as versatile as he is on the studio recordings, but you can hear that it´s him growling, and he definitely gets the job done. "Live In Chicago" is upon conclusion a good quality live album by Autopsy, despite the few issues mentioned above, and a 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
