Hot on the tail of their 2013-album "The Unholy Communion", here is a fast one from the Swedish death-metallers Verminous in the form of the three track 7" EP "Curse of the Antichrist". The EP contains one original and two cover versions.
'Curse of the Antichirst', which is - not surprisingly - the original, is an all-out and fierce traditional death metal attack, which includes pretty much all of the aesthetics of the genre. It is an incredibly solid and enjoyable track with some crunchy riffs to boot. The following track is 'Hang the Pope' which is a grindcore cult classic by the thrash metal veterans Nuclear Assault. Verminous' version is delivered in a fat and brutal sound which actually fits the track quite well - a very interesting rendition indeed. The third and final track is a successful cover version of Nihilist's crust-infused death-thrasher 'Revel in Flesh'.
A short sharp shock of a death metal attack, this three-track EP is worth investing in!
