Oh, and also I don't think their best work is their post-Thrak albums anymore not by a long shot lol. Starless and Bible Black is their best album imo.

I´ve listened to King Crimson for now 25 years or something like that, and they are still very much hit and miss to me. To my ears Red is one of their finest achievements though.

Thanks, I suspect if I liked Jazz I could enjoy them more. However, I enjoy some Mahavishnu Orchestra and Gentle Giant has some jazzy moments and they're one of my favorite bands, so who knows?

Great review. King Crimson is one of those tough to crack nuts. It's taken me 20 years to get into some of their albums. It's just so freakin' complex! All i can suggest is keep listening to their stuff. At least for me their stuff got better once i got into jazz, classical music as well as progressive rock. Not much here for the casual metal head but no doubt they had their part in its development.
