Sporting badass cover art that doesn't really relate to the actual thematic content of the album *at all* - they'd pander to their fantasy cover art a bit more in future, but never make a big priority of it - Molly Hatchet's debut album is a decent enough southern rock album. Think less Allman Brothers and more the rawest, dirtiest cuts of Lynyrd Skynyrd, then roughen and dirty them up a bit more, and you'd be getting towards the right ballpark. Benefiting from a big sound thanks to their unusual triple lead guitar lineup, the band sound pretty solid here, and the late Danny Joe Brown does a fine job on lead vocals.
