Convulse was a Finnish Death metal band, founded in 1988 in Nokia. The band was initially known as Speed metal-playing S.D.S.

Soon After their first full-length and promo tape made afterwards, the band got signed to Relapse. Thereafter, their music gathered more rock and doom metal influence in their music, probably due to influence of a musical trend started up by such bands as Xysma and Entombed.
The band splitted up soon after the release of "Reflections"
