Fred Lincoln "Link" Wray Jr. was an American (of Native American descent) rock 'n' roll guitarist who practically invented the power chord and pioneered the distorted guitar sound that characterizes heavy metal and hard rock. Especially the 1958 instrumental "Rumble" is considered essential in the history of heavy metal music, which is why Link Wray is included in the MMA. He died in 2005 in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he had lived since the 1980s.
