Blaakyum was born in the summer of 1995, started as an amateur garage band, by 1997 it has taken it's music more seriously and evolved into a Heavy/Doom Metal band. Releasing its only single "Am I Black" in 1998. A song that reached many beyond Blaakyum's expectations and knowledge. Till this day Am I Black remain a song loved not only by the older Lebanese Metal Generation, but the new scene as well (Still to the astonishment of the band) in 1997 Blaakyum won the Battle of the Bands in Beirut Mariot Hotel, and gathered a faithful following that was obvious in their first major appearance in the first Rock Nation 2001 in Lebanon. Shortly after that the band split after passing through 5 major line up changes, and many other minor one.
