Stephen
One can simply called THE STORM as a JOURNEY spin-off because 3 out of 5 members were actually from that band, and the other lead singer, Kevin Chalfant, also has similar pipes with Steve Perry and he even released a JOURNEY tribute album, ‘Fly 2 Freedom’ sometimes in 2007. This debut which came out in 1991, though successfully spawning several hits, was considered a flop since grunge has started to take over the scene.

This project was clearly intended for JOURNEY and casual hard rock fans since the band is in hiatus and songs like ‘I’ve Got A Lot To Learn About Love’, ‘Show Me The Way’, or ‘You’re Gonna Miss Me’ were definitely thirst-quencher. There are a few passable fillers like ‘In The Raw’ or ‘Touch and Go’, but most of the songs are hits-potential and many cited this album as one of the best AOR albums ever came out in the early 90s. I agree that this is a strong album, I still like it today, but the second album, ‘Eye of The Storm’, which was their last, is IMHO even bigger than this. Both albums were highly recommended especially if you like JOURNEY, FOREIGNER, and other typical American AOR.
