Transient is a grindcore band from Portland, Oregon.
Transient formed in November of 2007 after the breakup of Massive Meat Split (Julie, Dave, Adam) and Landlord (Krysta).
Massive Meat Split played for over 3 years. In the first year the band included Katherine (Sei Hexe and Nasalrod) on bass. Later, Massive Meat Split became Dave, Julie, Adam and Dwaz. Its sound was eclectic; an experimental fusion of thrashcore / grindcore with erratic vocals and saxophone parts. The band did a few releases, toured the West Coast, and enjoyed a long time local following before its end in late 2007.
Some members had begun writing material influenced by early grind acts such as; Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Terrorizer, Nausea (LA), and modern classics Nasum and Discordance Axis which caused dissension between Dwaz Cosmobot (vocalist/saxophonist) and the rest of the band.
Meanwhile Landlord, from Flagstaff AZ was relocating to Portland.
