Somnia was the original incarnation of current Israeli progressive metal band, Scardust. They were formed in 2013 by lyricist/songwriter Orr Didi and vocalist Noa Gruman. They were originally working on a rock opera titled Gates of Dawn, but this project has yet to come to fruition. Instead, the two put a full band together, featuring guitarist Yadin Moyal, bassist Yanai Avnet, keyboardist Lior Goldberg and drummer Yoav Weinberg, then released an EP in 2015 titled Shadow, with Orr writing the songs but not directly playing in the band. Later that year, the band changed their name to Scardust, and they remain active under that name today.
