AUTOMATA is a progressive metal band from Santiago in Chile. Their debut album, Mecánica, was released in 2005, with their follow-up, Neuron, released in 2011.

"Automata was formed in 2000 by Alfredo Smith (Drums), Iñaki Varela (Guitar, also in Exsimio), Sebastián Lekanda (Guitar, also in Bella e Putana) and Luciano Gómez (Bass Guitar, also in Alambique Veloz). After a couple of live shows and a demo recording that was never released, Gómez leaves the band.

After a long and unsuccessful search for a bass player, the band decided to explore the "electronics" world. This allowed them to write the bass lines, opening possibilities for the application of new musical resources into their work.

After a long period of composing and adapting to their new condition, Automata started performing some live shows in 2003. In August 2004, the band began the recording of Mecánica (their first album) which was finally released read more...
