Altar was a death metal band from Kumla in Sweden, formed in 1990.

This Swedish death metal band originally came into existence in 1988, changing name as often as they change their clothes (e.g. Wortox, Suffocation and Epedemic). Finally, in 1990, they decided to call themselves Altar.

Altar released a split album with Finnish death metal band Cartilage in 1992 before splitting up.

Magnus Carlsson is not to be confused with Ablaze My Sorrow's guitarist.
