It’s amazing how prolific BUCKETHEAD was just a few years ago after having released more than 200 albums in just a couple years but that started to taper off a couple years ago and surprisingly he didn’t release anything new in 2019 except for the “Sigil Sountrack” which was a compilation of tracks from various Pikes. Finally in March 2020 he has released his twenty-millionth album (i may be slightly off on that one) titled HEALING INSIDE OUTSIDE EVERY SIDE and even though it doesn’t say it on the album artwork, apparently this is considered PIKE 276 officially speaking.

Well, after over a year since “Bucketheadland 10 31” which was released on Halloween 2018 i was expecting the chicken lover to rekindle his mojo magic that made some of his earlier albums so amazingly great. It seems he took to the road and went on a lengthy live circuit tour to reconnect with fans after spending so many years in the coop. Unfortunately it seems that BUCKETHEAD is simply regurgitating all of the ideas that he has presented ad infinitum with nothing new under the sun. This is one of those dreamy slow-tempo acoustic pop rock albums. This one has six tracks and clocks in just over 30 minutes. The album was led off by the single “How Much Does A Thought Weigh” but the entire album pretty much sounds just like this opener.

This is very much in the vein as over a dozen of this style of album that began way back with “Colma” and has run its course a long time ago. I’m sure many will eat this up as it is beautifully recorded and presents a nice safe sonic zone to bliss out in but seriously, how many of these albums are needed? What’s the point? It seems the chicken lover has totally run dry of ideas but every time i consider such a notion he’ll pop out a doozy of interesting experimental metal, so this is just a teaser i suppose to announce he’s back but personally i find this rather boring as it’s been done too many times and much better on the earliest examples of this style of music. To each their own but for me, meh.
