First of all i think i'm the only one on the planet who considers this a masterpiece so you can take this review with a grain of salt. I guess my love for the dark and heavy style of music helps with my appreciation of this one, but i'd also say the subject matter brings an important emotional element into it as well. Tchort the leader of this band lost his daughter to a tragic accident prior to this and this recording deals with his sufferings, questions and sorrow. It's like taking a trip into the darkest realm of someone's mind and witnessing their torment. The lyrics are so meaningful but then so is the music. The music to me is very similar to IN THE WOODS..., especially their "Omnio" album. In fact the Botteri brothers and Synne are here from that band and this is the only GREEN CARNATION album that they were a part of. No doubt helping an old friend. Just look at the titles of the songs here. There's no light on this record. Surprisingly the opening instrumental is the most emotional for me. It's called "Falling Into Darkness" and one can't help but think that's how Tchort felt when he heard the awful news. There's so much amazing music on this album though and i highly recommend it despite the depressing nature of it.
