Founded by Corey Taylor (Lead Vocals)and drummer Joel Ekman in 1992. Not long after Shawn Economaki joined the band on bass guitar and they recorded two demos during this period up to 1995 when Jim Root (lead guitar.backing vocals) also was added to the line up.In 1996 the band recorded another demo of material which was to appear on the the bands first release the self titled album Stone Sour but that was not until six years later in 2002.Josh Rand joined on rythmn guitar in 2001.
All hail from Des Moines Iowa as another band Slipknot does which is the reason for Stone Sour's lengthy break between the last demo in 1996 to the release of the self titled debut in 2002 as Corey Taylor had joined Slipknot and with the success from that bands debut in 1999 he was busy and Stone Sour was put on hold.
