siLLy puPPy SET TO DESTROY was a short-lived crossover thrash band that stuck around long enough to release this one short EP titled DRINK BY DAY SWERVE BY NIGHT which came out in 2009.

This band from Victorville, CA consisted of Joey Montoya (vocals), Mike (drums), Oliver (bass), Anthony Montoya (guitar) and Baby Vultch (guitar) and played a style of crossover thrash in the vein of Virginia’s Municipal Waste that takes hardcore punk elements and adds typical thrash metal riffing.

DRINK BY DAY SWERVE BY NIGHT is short with eight tracks reaching the 14 minute mark but it’s actually a pretty good example of high octane crossover thrash explosiveness with a couple covers including “Skate To Hell” from Fecal Matter and “Drink Positive” from RKL.

There is a dash of skateboard punk in the stylistic approach but the thrash metal elements keep this from becoming a parking lot pop punk sensation and this band must’ve been a favorite of mosh pit headbangers for a brief moment in time.

Not much info on this one but this band had the chops to pull off some high quality crossover thrash for sure. Doubtful that the band will ever record anything else as it sounds like a bunch of pissed off kids who have since gone their own ways but if this is the only example of music from this band it’s not a bad stand alone statement.
