UMUR
"Organised Chaos" is the 6th full-length studio album by UK death metal act Benediction. The album was released through Nuclear Blast Records in October 2001. "Organised Chaos" is the first album to feature new lead vocalist Dave Hunt (Anaal Nathrakh) who has replaced Dave Ingram.

...not that you would be able to tell the difference as Dave Hunt has a very similar growling style to the intelligible growling style of Dave Ingram. Considering Dave Hunt´s schizophrenic vocal delivery when he records with Anaal Nathrakh, his vocal style here is much more straight forward death metal growling, which of course suits Benediction´s basic old school death metal style perfectly. He does a great job here, which can also be said about the rest of the musicians playing on "Organised Chaos". Other than the change on the lead vocalist spot there haven´t been any changes to the lineup since "Grind Bastard (1998)".

Compared to "Grind Bastard (1998)", "Organised Chaos" continues in a very similar style. It´s relatively simple yet effective and at times groovy old school death metal with very few excursions into other territories. "Diary of a Killer" which can almost be labelled raw groove thrash is the best example of that, but for the most part the music is what you would expect from Benediction. The sound production is handled by Andy Sneap (Kreator, Nevermore, Arch Enemy...etc.). It´s relatively clean and packs a lot of punch, but personally I would have prefered a more gritty sound production, which I feel would have provided the music with more character.

Overall "Organised Chaos" is another quality death metal release by Benediction. Fans of the band will not be disappointed. a 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
