The Soviet Union was falling apart over the course of 1991, and what better soundtrack for a slide into chaos than Ария? On Кровь За Кровь the gang issue forth a furious Iron Maiden-inspired onslaught given their own unique twist thanks to well-honed compositions and the forceful vocals of Valeriy Kipelov. He might be offering a Russian-language take on Bruce Dickinson, but as far as vocalists taking inspiration from Bruce go he's extremely good at it, and indeed the band seem more than capable at matching their influences at their own game. I might not be able to understand Margarita Pushkina's lyrics, but I can tell when they're delivered passionately, and that's very much the case here.
