With Oden On Our Side is a particularly bracing and energetic album in Amon Amarth's by now well-established style of Viking death metal with mild power metal influences creeping in here and there (and a little bit of folk metal too, if I'm not very much mistaken). A particularly aggressive work even compared to other albums from the band such as Once From the Golden Hall and Versus the World, with lyrics singing of the glory of Viking raids of old and furious, pounding riffs, the album presents a fusion of death metal brutality and power metal majesty that I hadn't previously thought possible.
