Unatøned by Machine Head is a mixed bag. For this album it saw them shorten their songs to make it more accessible creating one of the bands shortest albums and returning to their more basic alternative metal sound. While there are heavier moments that shine, the weakest moments are where they play it incredibly safe. Rob Flynn's vocals are weaker than they've ever been, with his shouts and growls being very weak but his cleans are still rather good. There is some great lead guitar work from new member Reece Scruggs. I'd give this a low 6 out of 10
