Strange Power Metal this. But if you search one great band with a great album Kamelot is this band and "Siége Perilous" is your album.

The style is a sort of AOR/ Neo Prog with Hard Rock treatment, mixing in Traditional Heavy Metal arrangements, some sprayed of Thrash (not true Thrash, in truth...) with bluesy treatment and all of this with a superior sonwriting. Not aggressive is the voice of Khan and the tons of keyboards dampen the aggression due to the use of double bass drums and very complex arrangements of drums. Also "Millennium" that is a pure Speed Power Metal is too melodic because the aggression isn't in first plan. In this song the chorus are extremely close to Prog Metal but this song isn't Prog Metal.

Interesting, in this album, is the sound production, that transform this sort of too melodic Power Metal in a good aggressive Power Metal. This is also helped from a solid writing, so that the guitars aren't fundamental that are in first plan.

If you think that Kamelot is a pure modern band you are off road. In fact the combination of the various elements that form Kamelot musical style finish their mix in a pure 80's style, not easy to describe as 80's for sound but clearly 80's for mentality. Certainly Prog Metal is present here and there in the songs but this isn't a cause because the 80's aren't a real characterization in Kamelot music.

If for you bands as Royal Hunt are too AOR I think that Kamelot is your band. And this "Siége Perilous" a good album.
