A landmark of early doom, Trouble's debut album is hampered by some occasionally dodgy production - whilst the guitar sound is more than meaty enough, the drums can sound a little thin at points - but this isn't enough to obscure its finer qualities. Though the lyrics have a heavily Christian slant, they don't suffer for it - there's none of the intolerably smug, preaching-to-the-choir air that a lot of overtly Christian acts have to them, and in fact they're easily as hard-hitting and dramatic as anything produced in the early 1980s.

But of course the big deal is the update of the sound of early Sabbath, which the band accomplish with ease, equalling and at points exceeding their inspirations in terms of sheer crushing heaviness. At a time of increasing speed, Trouble - along with Saint Vitus - delivered a great reminder that there were sonic possibilities inherent in slower metal that mustn't be forgotten.
