When it comes to grindcore, I guess I could say I'm quite a fan of the genre. I love short songs, I love fast songs, and quick ones, so when the oppurtunity of finding a grindcore album in my local HMV comes about, I'll pick it up hotter than an asian hooker.

People say this is a classic grindcore album, and I can see why, but I have heard other ones that I prefer, but from a first listen, their is some spark in it.

I think Brutal Truth, comparing to their older material, really did give 2 fingers to purists, and made an album that really showed originality and some interesting influences, from noise rock, hardcore punk, death metal, doom and other genres.

It's a great album, and just fun to listen to it. Can't wait to give it another listen haha...

1. Collapse - Quite doomy and very evil. Nice & noisy. Great vocals. 9/10

2. Black Door Mine - Very fast and frantic. Great use of vocals. 10/10

3. Turn Face - Quite punky. Short and sweet. 8/10

4. Godplayer - Nice use of mouth harp (odd instrument to use in grindcore haha), quite discordant and brutal. 9/10

5. I See Red - Great lyrics. Amazing vocals. Reminds me of early Death. 9/10

6. Ironlung - A noisy interldue. But I kind of like it. Reminds me of Merzbow. 9/10

7. Bite The Hand - Nice & grindy, full of blastbeats. Reminds me of early Napalm Death. 9/10

8. Ordinary Madness - Another doomy track. Pretty cool. 9/10

9. Media Blitz - Great cover song. Great vocals. 9/10

10. Judgement - Great riffs and arrangment. The middle section is pretty kick ass. 9/10

11. Brain Trust - Main riff is pretty kick ass. Interesting arrangment. 9/10

12. Choice Of A New Generation - Great lyrics. Fast, short and too the point. 10/10

13. Mainliner - One of the best on the album. Great chorus. 10/10

14. Displacement - Great vocals. Good use of repitition for effect. Great riffing. 9/10

15. Crawlspace - A nice noisy Merzbow like outro. 8/10

CONCLUSION: It's grindcore...with a twist! Why would you not want to listen to it haha

true, but I guess it can still be considered grindcore, and any A*C* album is a must have for grindcore, maybe not Picnic Of Love haha

Kind of a mix of grindcore and death metal IMO.

i need to give it another listen, but I would think Smear Campaign by Napalm Death would be my favourite...or is that even a grindcore album?
