Under the banner of Havayoth, the duo of Andreas Hedlund and Marcus Norman skirt the borderline between ultra-generic gothic rock and ultra-generic gothic metal, mostly sticking to the rock side of the equation but sometimes letting loose a dramatic riff or two to keep their metal side in play. Although His Creation Reversed is the sole release by the group, it's a well-polished release which will appeal to most fans of gothic music, and in addition there's a Pink Floyd edge to the production which will appeal to fans of the spacier side of melodic metal and rock. Goth astronauts will love this stuff, but it feels a little clinical and calculated for my tastes.
