"Here Waits Thy Doom" is the 4th full-length studio album by Canadian heavy metal act 3 Inches of Blood. The album was released through Century Media Records in August 2009.

The music on the album is traditional heavy metal usually played with galloping rythms, melodic guitar themes, hard rocking heavy metal riffing and a rusty high pitched voice in front. Think of the most raw Judas Priest and Iron Maiden you can imagine and then put a cross between the high pitched vocals of Rob Halford (Judas Priest) and the rusty nail delivery of Eric Wagner (Trouble) in front and you´re just about there. Songtitles like "Rock in Hell", "Call of the Hammer" and "Execution Tank" probably create a pretty good image in your mind of what´s in store on the album when speaking of the lyrical content. The image of the band, the music and the lyrics all hail traditional 80s heavy metal aestethics.

The material on the album are of consistantly high quality, but Cam Pipes voice is probably an aquired taste. There´s no questioning his vocal skills, but his voice can be a bit of a trial to listen to for the duration of a full-length studio album. It´s very hard on the ears and he doesn´t vary his vocal style much, which could otherwise have made "Here Waits Thy Doom" more easy on the ears. As I said though it´s probably an aquired taste and I´m sure there are listeners out there who will have no problems listening to the full album and who wouldn´t dream of using the word trial about the listening experience. The band are generally very well playing, the album has a meaty and organic sound production and the songwriting is professional and effective. So overall I guess a 3.5 - 4 star (75%) rating is fair.
