"Gut Nite" is a demo/promo recording by Mexican death metal act Malka. It´s a 3 track recording with relatively short tracks, so "Gut Nite" is no more than a teaser to what you can expect from Malka. Malka is a one-man act featuring Markus E. Malkavelkian on growling vocals, guitars, bass and drums.

Most sources tag Malka´s style as slamming brutal death metal and I agree. The music varies between fast blasting and slower heavy sections. The growling vocals are monotone and completely unintelligible. They are actually over-processed to a point where it´s no longer obvious that it´s the voice of a human being performing them. The riffs are simplistic and rather forgettable. The sound production is quite amaturish and especially the programmed drums have a nasty artificial sound. During the faster paced sections they sound allright but when the pace is lowered they sound pretty awful. Add to that, that they are not programmed in the most intriguing way and "Gut Nite" ends up a very amaturish release. Actually the only thing about "Gut Nite" that smells professional is the cover artwork, but that is also quite the beauty. A 1 - 1.5 star (25%) rating is warranted.
