"Dispossessed" is the second demo recording by Finnish thrash metal act Sceptical Schizo. The demo was independently released in 1990. It succeeds the release of the band´s first demo from 1989. Sceptical Schizo formed in 1988 under the Epidemic monicker but changed their name to Sceptical Schizo later the same year. They operated under the Sceptical Schizo band name until 1993 when they changed their name to Lavra. They didn´t manage to release a full-length studio album during the 1988-1993 period, but they were still relatively active releasing no less than four demos and two EPs.

Stylistically the material on "Dispossessed" is a continuation of the Sepultura/Possessed influenced brutal thrash metal of the first demo (disregarding the short sample intro), but this time around with a better sounding production job and a better quality performance from the band, who have obvously honed their skills since the rather amaturish first demo. The vocals are raw grunts delivered in staccato punchy style, and the music features both fast-paced parts and mid-paced heavier parts. The lead work is decent and "Dispossessed" is overall a decent quality thrash metal demo in the brutal end of the scale.

It´s not particularly unique and Sceptical Schizo still have a slightly amaturish edge to their output, which makes "Dispossessed" unable to compete with the best contemporary Finnish thrash metal demo releases by artists like Oppression, Mengele, Protected Illusion, and Phlegethon. A 2.5 star (50%) rating is warranted.
