An excellent little collection of traditional metal numbers, Manilla Road's Crystal Logic is a superb platform for the guitar and vocal skills of Mark Shelton, who gives a dynamite performance this time around. Yes, it's cheesy at points, but it's that good old-fashioned hard-edged cheese of the Iron Maiden and Manowar variety rather than limp, noodly cheese, if you see what I mean: Shelton's vocals constantly sound as though he's about to burst out of your speakers in a wizard hat and cape to take you on a mission to fight and kill an army of orcs, and the band's thunderous compositions would be the perfect soundtrack to doing so.
